The engravings in the book are by Boetius Adams Bolswert.
The bottom rim has an engraved text:
*NAECHTMAELS + BEEKER + TOT + OESTERBIERVM * (Communion cup of Oosterbierum)
Oosterbierum is located north of Franeker. The Reformed Church with Saint George on the spire still stands here.
The name ‘Breedelbane’ is engraved on the base. This engraving refers to the Earl of Breadelbane, a great art collector who owned almost half the land of Scotland in the 19th century.
